TRaining in Secure and PrivAcy-preserving biometricS (TReSPAsS)

Early Training Networks - ETN

To combat rising security challenges, the global market for biometric technologies is growing at a fast pace. It includes all processes used to recognise, authenticate and identify persons based on biological and/or behavioural characteristics. The EU-funded TReSPAsS-ETN project will deliver a new type of security protection (through generalised presentation attack detection (PAD) technologies) and privacy preservation (through computationally feasible encryption solutions). The TReSPAsS-ETN Marie Skłodowska-Curie early training network will couple specific technical and transferable skills training including entrepreneurship, innovation, creativity, management and communications with secondments to industry.

Consortium

TReSPAsS-ETN is a consortium of seven universities, supported by seven industrial entities, located in France, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Spain, Sweden and Belgium. TReSPAsS-ETN participants together constitute a strong, experienced, and cohesive group. The networks goal of training ESRs at the intersection of biometrics, attack detection, privacy and security, and legal and ethical issues is inherently inter- and multi-disciplinary. Thus, to effectively achieve this ambitious goal, with maximal involvement of researchers in biometrics, in security, legal experts, and non-academic partners. TReSPAsS-ETN brings together researchers with diverse backgrounds, complementary expertise and diverse resources for successfully achieving its research and training objectives.

Early Stage Researchers

Applications are invited for 14 PhD positions - “Early Stage Researchers” - to be funded by the Marie-Sklodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network “TReSPAsS-ETN - TRaining in Secure and PrivAcy-preserving biometricS - Early Training Networks" funded by the EU through the Horizon 2020 Framework. The 14 ESRs will be equipped with the necessary skill set and capacity to innovate the next generation of secure and privacy-preserving biometrics technologies. We have two open positions to be filled by our group:

  1. Privacy preserving indexing of large-scale biometric databasesESR-Description
  2. Detection of manipulated face imagesESR-Description
